Tradition and Territory
About Us
The long journey of the Gambarelli Family began back in 1838, when they purchased their first farm in the hills of the Reggio Apennines, where they raised various types of livestock.
It is precisely in this pristine environment, now called the “Food Valley”, characterized by meadows, woods, fresh springs, and a land rich in unique ingredients, where the generation currently leading the Company grew up.
Around 1970, the Gambarellis began developing ideas for creating food for dogs and cats, respecting their nutritional needs and using products from the local meat and grain supply chain. Their experience as breeders proved crucial for the selection and preservation of raw materials and food.
In 1984, the Gambarelli Family took a decisive step for the future by founding the company RACOF, which boasts the first plant specialized in preserving meat and fish for the production of Pet Food.
With the experience and extensive knowledge gained in processing meat and fish with Racof, in 1995 MISTER PET was founded, initially producing and marketing natural dried animal-origin snacks. Both companies are located in Mamiano di Traversetolo in the province of Parma.
The province of Parma is the beating heart of the Food Valley, passing down for centuries the secrets of producing gastronomic excellences known and appreciated worldwide, such as the “King of Cheeses” Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma, whose fame dates back to Roman times.
The Food Valley is the richest area in the world for the number of PDO and PGI products, the Protected Designation of Origin and Protected Geographical Indication marks granted by the European Union to guarantee quality!
To the point that products from this territory have achieved certifications allowing them to be exported worldwide, including to countries with very strict regulations like China and Russia!
The excellence of the ingredients and raw materials from this territory is due to the unique soil combined with the microclimate and its ancient breeding traditions. Confirming its strong vocation, Parma was chosen in 2003 as the headquarters of EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority. la Sicurezza Alimentare.
To deepen the knowledge of the Food Valley’s taste treasures, the Food Museums have been established; in addition to enhancing individual products and the local economy, these extraordinary places contribute to the prestige of the entire area and promote food and wine tourism.
MISTER PET and its products are one of the cornerstones of this wonderful place.

Environmental Commitment
Since its inception, Mister Pet has pursued a philosophy based on respect for people and the environment, in addition to, of course, love for animals.
Reducing environmental impact is one of our main goals, which is why we always pay close attention to energy waste, making investments with the primary goal of technological innovation and achieving maximum production efficiency with minimal waste of natural resources.
Renewable Energy
This commitment has materialized over time by using renewable energies with the current facility that guarantees almost total coverage of our energy needs, through an efficient and cutting-edge photovoltaic panel system.
Production cycle in harmony with the environment
The air and water used in the production processes are purified so they can be reintroduced into Nature without alterations, thus preserving the environmental balance of this territory, the secret of the unique quality of its PGI products.
Green Philosophy
In 2021, we planted 90 new trees along the entire perimeter of the facility. Another 60 were planted in 2024, precisely because we want to take care of the greenery that surrounds us. Additionally, we are optimizing all production and administrative software to achieve by 2026 the goal of reducing printed paper usage by 85%.
Selected Partners
We only choose supplier partners who respect the Environment and its life cycle: in our foods, we use vegetables, fruits, and grains that come from strictly GMO-Free crops, a characteristic we meticulously verify through laboratory analyses; similarly, we select meats based on origin and type of breeding.
Sustainable Development
Our 8 packaging lines from 2020 to today have all been modified and updated to work with recyclable and recycled plastic packaging, with a view to an increasingly sustainable future in harmony with the environment.
